Mission Statement

South Bay Bicycle Coalition, Plus (SBBC+), Inc. Mission Statement

HISTORY

The SBBC was created by a handful of passionate bicyclists in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with the goal of making the streets safer for bicyclists and adding a network of connected bikeways throughout the South Bay Region.

The SBBC+ PATH GOING FORWARD:

We will increase our support for the most vulnerable populations by encouraging state and local agencies to build safer streets that will encourage residents of all ages and abilities to participate in healthy activities and reduce our reliance on fossil fuel burning transportation options.

WE WILL:

  • Make health and safety our highest priority.

  • Advocate for safer streets for all users of the road.

  • Offer safety education programs for all ages and abilities.

  • Increase public transportation options by promoting multimodal/e-micromobility innovations with focus on equity and a

  • Expand our network of volunteers, supporters and partner organizations working to promote active transportation, enhance health and safety, and improve the environment.

  • Work effectively with elected officials and community leaders to build our political influence.

  • Promote livability policies, such as Complete Streets, traffic calming designs, Vision Zero and other progressive quality of life and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
